About this catalogue
This is a catalogue of real postage stamps, photographed by collectors using the free StampID app. Each page shows one stamp as a printed catalogue lists it, with the photographs collectors contributed of their own copies.
Where the photos come from
StampID users can choose, separately from using the app, to contribute their stamp photos to a private reference database, and — as a second, independent choice — to allow approved photos to appear here. Nothing is published automatically. Before a photo appears on this site it is matched to a catalogue record by image comparison and then checked by a person. Photos in which any personal data is legible (an address on an envelope, handwriting) are never published.
Contributor identities are never published. There are no names, accounts or identifiers on any page.
Which stamps get a page
This catalogue is a reviewed subset, not a dump. A stamp gets a page only when three things are true: the issue is clearly identified (a year and either a design name or a face value), there is a photograph we are allowed to publish, and the core facts have been checked by a person. Entries that are still incomplete or unresolved stay out of the catalogue and out of search engines until they are ready.
Licence and reuse
Contributors keep ownership of their photographs and grant a non-exclusive licence to display them here, described in the Catalogue Display Licence. That licence covers the photograph only; the design of a stamp belongs to the issuing postal authority. Please do not copy photographs from this site for other uses without permission.
Stamp details on each page (issue year, face value, design, colour, catalogue number, perforation, watermark, printing) come from the StampID app's AI identification of the contributed photos. Before a photo is published, its identification is checked against a stamp catalogue record by image comparison and confirmed by a person; the number of independent scans that agree is shown next to each detail. Details may still contain errors and are not an appraisal.
Value estimates
The "What is it worth?" figures are the range of AI estimates produced for the contributed scans of that stamp. They are not appraisals. Condition, centering, gum and cancellation move the value of any stamp by a wide margin, and only an examination of a specific copy can price it.
Removing a photo
A contributor can withdraw a photo at any time by turning off catalogue publication in the app's settings, or by deleting their contributed data; our copy is removed within minutes. If you appear in a photo, are named in one, or hold rights in one and want it removed, contact us as described in the privacy policy. Once an image has been public, search engines and other sites may keep cached copies for a while; we can remove our copy but cannot recall theirs.
